PORTUGAL FILMSCHOOL

it’s a great start to your film career!

Portugal Filmschool offers short, affordable courses for beginning documentary filmmakers. You will be taught how to research, write, direct, interview, produce, shoot, and edit by experienced film makers from the Netherlands and the UK.

Each course lasts 7 days and has a maximum of 8 students.

At the end of the course, you will have all the technical and content skills needed to make a short film by yourself. And you will have made a short film with your name on the credits. For a lot of our students, this has facilitated their entry into further film education, journalism or a business where video making skills are required.

Our students come from all over the world. In the last five years we have had students from Brazil, Denmark, the Netherlands, the USA, Egypt and many more countries. Their ages have ranged from 16 to 60.

We are located in the village of Vale de Santiago in the lovely countryside of Southern Portugal, not far from the sea.

This year we will have courses from 6-13 July 2025 and 23-31August 2025. The price is €795 including accommodation in a dorm. Private accommodation is also possible at varying prices.
